Pipes & Stuff

Anonymous asked: i was wondering if you had or what you thought of long stemmed churchwarden pipes or long stemmed pipes in general.

I really like the churchwarden style pipes!  I used to have a small churchwarden (about 10 inches long) but I got rid of it recently to make space for a few new pipes.  I tend to like the shorter stemmed pipes, however I hope to someday have a nice churchwarden.  What about my followers? Does anyone have a favorite churchwarden? Submit your pics and I will post them!

Because of the overwhelming response in favor of the Peterson from yesterdays post, I have decided that that is the pipe for me.  And, I was lucky enough to run into someone online who was trying to sell an unsmoked pipe, the same model and make, for a bit less than I have been able to find it anywhere else. Three cheers for my new Peterson that is on its way!

Ok, so it is time for some follower participation!
I am in the market for a new pipe.  I have done a lot of looking into what I want, and I have it narrowed down to 3 good pipes in the same price range.  I now want you guys to vote and pick which one I should get.  Go ahead and reply to this post and tell me what your favorite is.  In a few days, I will see what the consensus is, and hopefully soon have a new pipe! (also, if you know of a pipe that might be better and similar, feel free to let me know about it!)

Pipe tobacco of the week : Shortcut to Mushrooms!

So, I do not know if anyone has ever heard of this, but I must say that it is FANTASTIC!  It is based off of Lord of the Rings (which, I will admit is the reason I bought it in the first place), and is absolutely amazing.  It is made by justforhim.com, and is part of a whole serious of LOTRs based tobaccos.  So far it is the only one I have tried, but it really is great.

If anyone is looking for a good tobacco that is in between an aromatic and an english, this is the one for you.  Its sweet but crisp, and has a great room note.  It came a little bit wet, but I let it dry out for an hour or so before I smoked it and it smoked great.  Burnt right down to a white ash crisp.

So, go and check it out.  And if you try or have tried any of the other tobaccos by justforhim.com, let me know! I would love to hear what you all think!

Villager 1888- Midday

So awhile back a follower asked me about a new tin that I bought.  I promised him a review, and here it is.

1st off, the room note was amazing.  As soon as I got the tin open, I was overtaken with the awesome smell.  Kind of a fig-y carmel-y smell.  Not only that, but the tobacco was at a perfect moisture and a really nice cut…..but the importatnt part is how it smokes so onto that!

When I first was lighting up, I became very concerned, because just as the follower had suggested, the tobacco was overpowering and hot.  Once I got it going however, I was very pleased.  The tobacco really mellowed out and had a lot more depth than it did before.  It was a lot stronger than I usually prefer, however it was a very good tobacco.  The smoke was nice and thick, and the taste was sweet but had a strong tobacco taste to it.  And, it was not very spicy, which I find good because spicy tobacco is not my thing.

All in all, I enjoyed it a lot.  I dont know if it will end up being one of my number one tobaccos, but it was a god buy and I am sure that I will continue to smoke it from time to time.

Super Grain Kaywoodie! This pipe is also a fixer-upper that i recently bought and restored.  Super awesome pipe. Hopefully I find it a nice new owner.

Medico with an awesome swirl stem! I just got this at an antique store, fixed it up, and now plan on selling it. Hopefully I can make a profit and find it a nice home.

si-bon asked: I want to hear what you think of the 1888 mid day pipe tobacco. I found it to be very dry, almost unusable.

I havent actually opened it yet! I plan on trying it soon, but I am actually currently out of space to cellar it, so I am not quite ready to open it yet.  I will probably wait a few weeks till i finish something first so that i have space for it.
Ill tell you what though, once I open it and try it, I will write a review of it on here!

Yello-bole Pipes.
My two smallest, but possibly favorite pipes.  Perfect for a short 10 minute smoke.
